Magic the Gathering (MtG) is a card game that i play and i would like to share a few ratings and top tips on cards and combos.
the latest sets are Throne of Eldraine, where there are cards creating food tokens, Theros beyond Death, where there are gods and demi-gods – a good set to make a mono-coloured deck, Ikoria, Lair of Behemoths, where humans are at the bottom of the food chain and there are mutating and cycling creatures, and the latest set: Core Set 2021 (core sets do not have a story line, they are a set of all of the classic cards, including the most iconic cards for each colour).
today i will be comparing Vivien, Monsters’ Advocate, and Lukka, Coppercoat Outcast.
Vivien, Monsters’ Advocate

Name: Viven, Monsters’ Advocate
Type: Planeswalker
Set: Ikoria, lair of Behemoths
Rarity: Mythic Rare
Vivien is the most expensive card in Ikoria, and is one of the three planeswalkers too. Her +1 ability to create 3/3 beasts non-stop is hard to beat when they are coming out every turn, including the turn she is played! As well as that, you can look and play the top card of your library (if it is a creature) and put creatures from your deck onto the battlefield!
Her only downside is that you can’t build up to something too big because she doesn’t have an epic minus ability.
Lukka, Coppercoat Outcast

Name: Lukka, Coppercoat Outcast
Type: Planeswalker
Set: Ikoria, lair of Behemoths
Rarity: Mythic Rare
Lukka is all about casting extra creatures from exile, and comes handy near the end of the game when you have lots of mana and not enough creatures. Secretly hidden in its first two abilities is a combo. when you exile a creature and play it, the next turn you can then exile the same creature that you just played, and because it still has “you may cast this card from exile so long as you control a Lukka planeswalker” as well as getting a card with higher converted mana cost, you can also play the card you exiled again!
Because of that combo, Lukka deserves to be a mythic. But generally without that combo Lukka can’t beat 3/3 beasts coming out each turn.
Verdict
the two planeswalkers both cost the same, and are similar in some ways, and i think they are pretty equal in standard. if i had to choose, i would choose Vivien as my favourite.
